HQAI Mourns the Loss of Gerrit Marais

HQAI is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Gerrit Marais, a dedicated member of our organisation. Gerrit was one of the founding members of HQAI in 2015 and has held roles as a member of the Board of Directors, Treasurer, and Chair of the Advisory and Complaints Board since then.

Gerrit's leadership extended beyond HQAI. In the nineties, he was instrumental in coordinating the FSC certification of a major forestry company. Later, he oversaw the management of the SGS global forestry certification program, solidifying his position as a global authority on forest management and certification.

Gerrit actively provided training services and consulting in the forest management and certification sectors, sharing his invaluable knowledge and bringing a global perspective to HQAI.

The HQAI community has lost a remarkable member, a leader, and a friend. Gerrit's dedication, expertise, and unwavering commitment will be deeply missed. Our heartfelt condolences go to Gerrit’s wife and family.
