SARD
Sosyal Araştırma ve Rehabilite Derneği (Social Association for Relief and Development) is a Turkish non-governmental organisation, established with the mission of enhancing resilience and self-reliance among populations affected by conflict and natural disasters. It prioritises the localisation of humanitarian assistance and works across key sectors including food security and livelihoods, shelter provision, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), protection, non-food items and early recovery. The organisation’s strategic emphasis is on delivering critical resources and innovative opportunities that enable affected individuals and communities to progress towards sustainable futures rather than merely offering short-term relief.
In addition to sectoral programme delivery, SARD maintains emergency preparedness and response mechanisms with pre-positioned supplies serving Turkey and northwest Syria. Its programmes combine rapid humanitarian interventions — such as distribution of food, emergency shelter and hygiene kits — with longer-term support aimed at economic and social empowerment, including livelihood training and cash-for-work opportunities. This integrated approach reflects a commitment to durable impact, community participation and the strengthening of local capacities.
