Karin Wierenga

Karin is always on the look out to learn and improve with an aim to strengthen the position of people in a vulnerable position. She uses her systematic thinking and analysing skills to advise aid organisations how to improve their quality and accountability. Her passion lies in the humanitarian and development sector because of the great needs and vulnerability of the people in need.

Another reason for this is her interest and ability to relate to people from different cultures and backgrounds. Contribute to empowerment of people in need around the world is her goal.

Outsider assessment, beneficiary-grounded.

Traveling to remote places where people are not used to foreigners, the focal point had to buy towels on the markets for us as the hotel did not have any, me trying to cover the window with a blanket as there where no curtains or anything to make sure that the villagers would not all be peaking into my room in the early morning… luckily I had brought my own mosquito net with me.
