Karin Wieranga
Karin is an experienced audit and quality professional in the humanitarian and development sector, specialised in integrity management and compliance with quality standards, including the Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS).
It is her passion to contribute to a world in which vulnerable people in need of support receive high quality and accountable assistance. That is why she takes the CHS as a guide for organisations to identify their strengths and weaknesses on quality and accountability and use it as a measurable standard to improve organisational performance.
Karin has worked in different roles on the development and implementation of integrity frameworks - promoting a safe working environment where integrity and safeguarding are part of daily practice - as well as on setting up quality management systems, monitoring organisational compliance with internal and external (sector) standards such as the CHS and ISO Quality standards and facilitating training on quality and accountability, integrity and safeguarding.
In addition to working as auditor, Karin also works for a Dutch INGOs as integrity and compliance manager.
Dutch, English and some French.
Independent, a fresh eye, learning
For me, an audit is a process of getting to know the organisation, their staff and the people they serve and finding out how they meet the CHS. I enjoy this journey of discovery, as it is learning from both sides, with the ultimate aim of continuous improvement of the work. That is my motivation to help others to improve so together we make the world a better place.
