Coalition for Integrity & Accountability - AMAN
The Coalition for Accountability and Integrity (AMAN) is a leading Palestinian civil society organisation founded in 2000 to advance integrity, transparency, and accountability as pillars of good governance. Established by a coalition of national actors committed to democracy, human rights, and public-sector reform, AMAN was created in response to the growing recognition that corruption represents one of the most significant obstacles to Palestinian state-building and institutional resilience.
In 2006, AMAN became the officially accredited Palestinian chapter of Transparency International (TI), joining the world’s largest anti-corruption coalition. This affiliation reinforced AMAN’s institutional credibility, expanded its access to global expertise, and strengthened its ability to adapt international anti-corruption standards and tools to the Palestinian context.
Today, AMAN serves as both a national think tank and a specialised oversight and advocacy institution, producing authoritative evidence and shaping the national integrity agenda. AMAN’s core knowledge products include:
- Annual Integrity and Anti-Corruption Report, providing a comprehensive review of status of anti-corruption in Palestine, corruption patterns, institutional responses, and integrity policies.
- Palestinian Integrity Index, a nationally recognised benchmarking tool assessing transparency and accountability across public institutions.
- National Integrity System (NIS) Studies, aligning Palestinian governance practices with global principles and measuring performance against TI’s international framework.
- An expanding portfolio of regional research, offering comparative insights into corruption dynamics across the Arab region.
Through strategic partnerships, civic engagement, and its integration into the global TI movement, AMAN positions itself at the forefront of policy influence, evidence-based advocacy, and public mobilization. Its mission extends beyond addressing individual corruption cases to fostering a societal culture of integrity, where transparency is institutionalized and accountability becomes a shared national norm.
AMAN’s membership in Transparency International enables continuous capacity development, access to global methodologies, and the ability to exchange Palestinian experiences with international peers. AMAN today serves not only as a beneficiary of global knowledge but also as a contributor, offering technical expertise to regional networks, public institutions, and civil society coalitions.
